For a state where voters recently chose to run afoul of federal drug laws and “legalize” recreational marijuana, this one truly is a head-scratcher.

As reported by Reuters and other sources, Colorado health officials have just tossed a bid by medical pot advocates to place cannabis on the list of approved treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder, an ailment most commonly associated with military veterans.

That’s odd for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is because voters in Colorado (along with Washington State) approved a measure legalizing recreational marijuana use in 2012.

School, Police Chief Must Face Lawsuit Brought By Student Suspended For 10 Days For Tweeting ‘Actually, Yes’

The principal (Roman Pierskalla) called Sagehorn to the office and brought with him a fully-uniformed school police officer (Stephen Sarazin). Pierskalla told Sagehorn he was suspending him for five days for “damaging a teacher’s reputation.” To support his decision, he pulled a page out of the school policy manual that referred to “threatening, intimidating or assaulting a teacher, administrator or staff member.” Clearly, Sagehorn’s two-word tweet had performed none of these infractions.

A week later, Pierskalla talked to Sagehorn and his parents and told them he was extending the suspension another five days, giving them no reason for doing so. He further defended his unilateral extension by “getting angry” at Sagehorn’s parents for “questioning his authority.”

Woman, 60, is arrested for hitting her husband because he wouldn’t take down the Confederate flag from their home

Margaret Rae Carpenter, 60, and her husband, Larry, got into an argument
He put up a Confederate flag and Carpenter asked him to take down
But he refused and Carpenter got angry and hit him leaving him bleeding
She was arrested on Saturday and charged with domestic battery
Carpenter was released on Sunday afternoon according to jail records

On April 17, a legally armed Uber driver in Chicago stopped what likely would have been a mass shooting.

Everardo Custodio opened fire into a crowd of people on a busy Friday night in Logan Square.

The Uber driver, a 47-year-old resident of Little Italy, has a concealed carry permit. He pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Everardo Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records.

It was a VHS tape. Of a Jennifer Lopez movie.

Finley, 27, was arrested Thursday in Pickens County, South Carolina, on a misdemeanor charge of failure to return the video, according to CNN affiliate WYFF-TV.

The boy had allegedly thrown the candy on a school bus the previous day. A report from Vocativ states:

On an episode of Price is Right the comedian won a treadmill, sauna, Nike fitness band and an iPad
She said everyone seemed ‘genuinely excited’ that she won the treadmill
She said ‘it was so funny’ and that she had ‘such a good time’ on the show
Perez laughed about the win and made several jokes on Twitter

Perez, who lost her legs in an accident in 2004, posted a photo of herself on the show to Twitter with the caption, ‘When you win a treadmill on national TV but you have no feet’.

Sheriff Shoots Real Estate Agent as She Shows House, Then Walks Away Because “He’s the Sheriff”

Clayton County Sheriff, Victor Hill, has not been charged with a crime and was allowed to leave the scene after shooting a woman in the stomach on Sunday.

According to Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Brian Doan, Hill accidentally shot a woman at a model home located at 2567 Britt Trail Drive in Lawrenceville at around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The woman Hill shot is in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center. She was the real estate agent who was showing the home. How someone can “accidentally” shoot a woman as she shows a house remains a mystery.

-To top this off, Hill was re-elected to his position as sheriff while he was facing 37 charges of corruption. After his re-election, he was acquitted on all charges.

This intrepid bureaucracy, with an annual budget of around $5 million, came into being in 1949. It performs the indispensible task of administering a “price stabilization” program to ensure that raisin prices don’t fall too low. After all, we wouldn’t want to risk letting the free market decide how much raisins should sell for, would we?

A free market in raisins was such a grave threat to the US economy that the RAC originally fined Horne $650,000, now over $1.5 million, for not permitting it to confiscate nearly half his raisin crop. Horne appealed the fine, and for the last decade, the case has bounced up and down through the federal court system. The case is now before the Supreme Court

So THAT’S why the Supreme Court is too busy to look at issues that do not involve creating judicial justification for government theft. What a filthy waste of resources.
